In Illinois, anyone who carries or possesses an open container of an alcoholic beverage in their vehicle, with the exception of limousines, motor homes, mini motor homes, and chartered buses that are not hired for educational purposes, will face a maximum fine of $1,000 and a suspension of their driving privileges for 12 months.
